Located southwest of Adelaide at the entrance of Gulf St Vincent, Kangaroo Island is Australia’s third-largest island. It is only 45 minutes by ferry from South Australia to Kangaroo Island. The island is around by protected seas in the north, while in the south there are larger waves, higher cliffs and stronger currents.
Ferry and plane are two transport tools to get to Kangaroo Island. You should bring or hire a car if you want to get around the island. Bicycle is a nice choice too. There are many tours between 1 and 3 days from Adelaide and you could join a tour group matching your own way at a reduced cost.

The maximum temperatures of Kangaroo Island in summer rarely exceed 35°C due to the ocean especially on the coastline. February is the hottest month, between 20-25°C. Between May and September receives nearly 2/3 of Kangaroo Island’s annual rainfall.
